Opportunity:

Day of Caring 2026 at A Place for Girls in Chesapeake

Description

Help us prepare this beloved 62-acre camp property in Chesapeake for another season of outdoor adventure and leadership-building. Volunteers will work together to clear brush and trim low-hanging limbs along walkways and wooded paths, ensuring safe, welcoming trails for the thousands of Girl Scouts who explore this space each year.

Nestled along Bells Mill Creek, A Place for Girls is home to The Outback, a serene natural area that connects directly to the Virginia Birding & Wildlife Trail. This unique ecosystem invites visitors to experience the region’s rich biodiversity—songbirds, marsh life, towering pines, and quiet creekside views. By helping restore and open these pathways, volunteers make it possible for girls, families, and community members to enjoy meaningful encounters with nature, outdoor learning, and environmental stewardship.

Your hands-on support keeps A Place for Girls beautiful, accessible, and ready for every girl’s next moment of courage. All tools and materials will be provided—just bring your energy and your heart for community service.

Please bring a hat, work gloves, and a bright smile, since you will be leaving with a box of Girl Scout Cookies!
